Firefox is losing the browser battle...

Are you among the hundreds of thousands who are still using Firefox on an outdated Mac or Windows system?

Well, there is a good reason for all of this frustration that is occurring.  Fear not, if you are not Power PC Mac user then you will not endure the same tragic ending.  On the plus side Apple has been making computers with Intel since about 2005.  Mike Beltzner, the director of the Firefox division of Mozilla, just announced that they have cut off support for Mac OS 10.4 when version 4.0 is released.  Due to the resources and the amount of power it will take to operate Firefox 4.0 Intel powered Mac users should be able to upgrade to the next level of Firefox.

It seems since Microsoft has extended the era of Windows XP and the use on non-Intel processors, users of those machines may also feel the impact of the browsers new life.  The upgrade of Firefox for Windows based computers came in the version 3.6 that was just released.  This is one of the reasons that there have been reports of sudden crashing and pop-up pages for blog editing and photo editing have been opening blank pages.

Yes, these incontinences make us mutter under our breath but the truth of the matter is that there are alternatives to Firefox like Google Chrome, Safari and Opera that seem to run smoothly regardless what system I use them on.  Let’s face it though 9 out of 10 of us really do need a total system upgrade.  The good news is that over the next few months there will be some drastic changes with much needed new and competitive systems.
